Folklore de mi Tierra Dance Group
Folklore de mi Tierra Dance Group (FDMT Dance Inc.) is a Colombian folk dance organization based in Winnipeg, Canada. It promotes Colombian culture through traditional dance, music, and costume, serving as a vibrant hub for cultural education and community celebration in Manitoba’s Latin American diaspora.

Our Instructors
Our team of experienced and passionate dance instructors are dedicated to helping our students achieve their full potential. They have trained and performed with some of the top dance companies in the world.
Origins and Mission
Folklore de mi Tierra Dance Group was founded in 2003 by Nancy Jimenez, a Colombian immigrant, together with other Colombian immigrants seeking to preserve and share their heritage in Canada.
Its mission is to celebrate the richness of Colombian folkloric traditions, including regional dances from the Caribbean, Andes, and Pacific coasts.
Over time, FDMT has also become a pioneer in bringing Salsa caleña to youth dancers in Canada, strengthening cultural connections to Cali while keeping Colombian traditions alive and evolving in a new context.
Our Programs
We offer a range of programs for students of all ages and levels, including Colombian folklore, Tropical cumbia, bachata and Salsa Caleña. Our classes are designed to be fun, challenging, and rewarding.
The group emphasizes intercultural exchange and education through public performances, workshops, and collaborations with schools and community festivals.
